A HOUSE ROOTED IN RANCH

The story of Casa Libertas owes much to its past generations. Beneath the city streets, sidewalks and highways, lie stories of our past. 

How and what we do today and the way we create, live and dress, all have roots in the pioneers, and the horsemen and women of yesteryear. 

Casa Libertas is rooted in a ranch-raised family history that stretches from the Old World to the Americas. With a family heritage of pioneers, ranchers, creators and builders, Casa Libertas takes pride in its rich story. 

Our roots trace back to many trails, including as one of the first families of 400 of 200,000 people to head West in America between 1841–1860 on the epic Oregon – California Trail. This historic journey — crossing the wildness of desert, mountains, and rivers by wagon, horseback, and on foot, across lands once solely inhabited by the First Nations; The American West.

More trails followed, including to the pampas of Argentina where living with the land and nature, further took seed. 

Inspired by a connection to nature and the call of discovering new horizons, the House is infused with the heritage of handcrafted pieces from the 1800s, made in the saddle room and workshops, passed through generations.  Among these cherished possessions are hand-sculpted silver buckles, leatherworks and horseware, each bearing the indelible imprint of the artisans that brought their craft from a bygone era.  Beyond exquisite art pieces and masterful skills, the rich culture of artisan intent lives on, today.  

These beautiful objects made by hand in the saddle room and workshops, endure in style and quality forming part of everyday living and seeds of the House. It is here, we experience firsthand the value of craftsmanship and the meaning of luxury.  Luxury - as in experiencing life, valuing its precious moments - and the stories of the people and places with these objects.

To those that lived with purpose, alongside nature, rode horses, worked with their hands and made things with meaning, that last. 

Living with and amongst the imprint of artisans who brought their skills in silversmithing and leatherworking from the Old World to the vast lands of the Americas provides us continuous inspiration.  The artisan quality and emotional value of these creations resonates from generation to generation, some pieces dating over 150 years, enduring in style, beauty and meaning

An appreciation of handmade quality led to the beginnings of honing the craft in the realm of buckle and leather belt design, one piece at a time.  It was here we took notice of the uniformity of fashion, including the everyday belt - a functional piece, so often devoid of emotional or artist resonance. 

THE CREATION OF THE HOUSE

We could not stand by thinking that the best was in the past. 

The echo of discovery beat loudly, fueling a desire to create. A desire to recuperate the beauty of doing, as generations before: creating beautiful objects with extraordinary design, made with meaning, that last. 

The brand and story came about when we were looking for similar pieces but couldn’t find them.  Inspired, we set out to create the House and a collection for today, bringing innovation with time-honored techniques, originality and quality.   Sketch pads filled, ideas flowed and a distinct brand identity and aesthetic unfolded with heritage, artisan quality and emotive value in every design.

Casa Libertas’ established its artisanal brand with its atelier in Spain, characterized by generational talent and know-how. 
Every creation is made-by-hand in limited quantities, using recycled materials, designed to ignite liberation and self-expression.
