LIBERTAS LIVING
Maria is one of the world’s top dressage athletes, competing internationally,
having competed for Portgual in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
Casa Libertas is honored to accompany Maria Caetano on her remarkable equestrian journey — a path defined by discipline, artistry, and world-class achievement. Maria is one of Portugal’s most celebrated dressage athletes and a leading figure on the global stage. An eight-time Portuguese National Champion, she has represented her country at the highest levels of the sport:
– Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games
– 10 European Championships
– 3 FEI World Equestrian Games
– 1 World Cup Final
– And numerous international competitions
In 2024, the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez hosted the Casa Libertas Grand Prix during the CDI3* for the fifth consecutive year — a highlight of the international dressage calendar.
The event culminated in a brilliant victory: Maria Caetano, riding Hit Plus, claimed first place and was awarded the Casa Libertas Trophy Buckle.
ROOTED IN THE LAND: MARIA CAETANO’S WORLD IN ALENTEJO
Maria Caetano lives and trains in the heart of Alentejo, Portugal, near the Spanish border, on a breathtaking family estate devoted to the breeding and training of Lusitano (Iberian) horses. The landscape is a living tapestry — rolling hills, wildflowers, lakes, and rich pastures alive with birdsong, where horses and cattle graze freely.
At the center of it all is a world-class equestrian facility with stables, indoor and outdoor arenas, and a dedicated breeding program. Maria trains under the guidance of her father, one of Portugal’s most respected horsemen and Lusitano breeders — their bond is a rare and inspiring father-daughter partnership, rooted in mutual trust, continuous learning, and a shared love for the horse.
Beyond the elegance of the dressage arena, Maria embraces the life of the land. She rides freely across the hills, rounding up cattle at full gallop, and takes part in doma vaquera — a traditional Spanish equestrian art — alongside her husband.
Maria is more than an elite athlete; she is a true horsewoman. Deeply connected to her family, her heritage, and the rhythm of the land, she embodies the spirit of Casa Libertas. We are proud to share this journey together.
